Job summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Composites Engineer with a strong background in wind turbine development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading or managing projects related to the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of wind turbines. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our wind turbines are reliable, efficient, and cost-effective. Your focus will be on developing and implementing innovative solutions to support the development of the wind industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects related to wind turbine blade design, development, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all aspects of the composite design and manufacturing process are efficient and effective.
  • Develop and implement new materials, processes, and technology for wind turbine turbines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and R&D, to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot process issues to identify and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform time studies and cycle time analysis to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze and interpret technical data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure that all work complies with industry regulations and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to wind turbines.
  • Provide technical support to other departments as needed.
  • Ensure all data is collected as per GWT standards.
  • Create technical reports to be shared with key Stakeholders.
  • Ensure factory and lab standards are upheld.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or degree in related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in composite technology development, preferably in the wind industry.
  • Strong understanding of wind turbine blade design, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Experience with composites and other advanced composite materials.
  • Hands-on experience in blade development, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Desired characteristics

  • Previous relevant experience, preferably in the wind industry, but candidates with translatable experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with structural testing, strain measurement, design of experiments, material selection, and statistical characterization.
