Summary

The Director of Field Service is responsible for leading, organizing, and optimizing all aspects of the Field Services operations. This role ensures safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of service activities, while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction, workforce development, and compliance with company policies. The manager will directly oversee field personnel, manage scheduling and logistics, foster strong customer relationships, and identify growth opportunities within the services business line. 

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage the day-to-day activities of field service teams, ensuring adherence to company standards for safety, quality, and performance. 
  • Develop and maintain work schedules, assign resources, and oversee travel coordination for field teams. 
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, GWO, and local regulatory frameworks for all field operations. 
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for service activities, including uptower and onsite repair. 
  • Recruit, train, and mentor field service technicians and supervisors. 
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and establish professional development pathways. 
  • Manage staffing levels to balance operational demand with cost efficiency. 
  • Drive accountability through clear KPIs, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for service-related customer communications. 
  • Coordinate pre-job planning, customer updates during execution, and post-job closeout reporting. 
  • Address escalations swiftly and professionally to maintain customer trust and confidence. 
  • Gather customer feedback and ensure lessons learned are integrated into future operations. 
  • Identify and evaluate new opportunities for expansion of service offerings in existing and new markets. 
  • Collaborate with commercial and executive leadership to develop service proposals and pricing strategies. 
  • Partner with engineering and R&D teams to introduce new repair technologies and service models. 
  • Build strategic relationships with OEMs, developers, and operators to expand Gulf Wind’s service footprint. 
  • Manage the service P&L, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost control. 
  • Track and report on key operational and financial metrics (utilization, margin, downtime, etc.). 
  • Ensure projects are executed within budget, schedule, and contractual terms. 
  • Drive efficiency initiatives to improve profitability of service operations. 
  • Lead the adoption of digital tools for scheduling, field reporting, and asset tracking. 
  • Champion process improvement initiatives, leveraging data to optimize resource allocation. 
  • Support cross-functional initiatives that align services with the company’s broader growth strategy. 
  • Represent Field Services in leadership meetings, ensuring alignment with company goals. 

 Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, or a related field. 
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in an engineering leadership or manufacturing role or relevant experience in the wind industry. 
  • Strong knowledge of wind turbine manufacturing processes, equipment, and field operations. 
  • Experience in process optimization, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. 
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Willingness to travel domestic and internationally
