Developing and demonstrating novel technologies to build confidence in Wind Power generation is core to the Gulf Wind Technology company mission. We are immensely proud that we are able to leverage the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) SBIR award program to catalyze our efforts.
$72 million in funding has been allocated to assist small businesses in pursuing projects related to scientific, clean energy, and climate research, development, and demonstration. This financial support will bolster 296 projects spanning 44 states, addressing various critical areas including renewable energy, nuclear energy, cybersecurity, advanced materials and manufacturing, microelectronics, and artificial intelligence. The announcement reaffirms the commitment of the Biden-Harris Administration to promote innovative climate solutions and enhance America’s global scientific leadership, crucial for realizing the President’s objectives of achieving a carbon-free grid by 2035 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
According to U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm, “America’s small businesses have always been instrumental in propelling our nation forward, fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship that has positioned America as a frontrunner in science and innovation. President Biden recognizes this, which is why the Department of Energy (DOE) is empowering companies across the nation to pioneer groundbreaking solutions for addressing the climate crisis and building a clean energy future.”
Gulf Wind Technology’s proposal will investigate on-blade load management techniques to reduce costs for larger wind turbines, which are subject to increasingly dynamic operating conditions.
